God's Word promises that there will be trials in this life. That there will be suffering... Sometimes, great suffering will come as a result of living for Him.
Record shows that people would hurl stones at people who represented the voice of God. God told people to do that to false messengers...But the problem is people did that to even the true messengers becasue they didn't like what God had to say.
Later, followers of Jesus were killed simply by testifying the truth of what happened...that Jesus was killed brutally at the hands of evil, corrupt authorities, was buried, and rose from the dead 3 days later, just as He promised He would, and just as the old prophets had predicted. At the exact time/ year that God told to tell the people.
This is an example of the promise: That God can make all things to work together for good for those who love Him. It didn't make sense that Jesus (The Lord) would suffer great things...and to be humiliated.. The king of kings, the One who Created the Universe, treated like the worse criminal in the history of the world. But yet good came out of this. The Good? That anyone who would believe that God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son to take the brutal consequence of the world's sin by dying Himself to pay the consequence for you..so that anyone who believes in Him and what He did was truly for your benefit, they would not perish after death to empty and a meaningless eternity or perish into another miserable existence, but they would inherit eternal life in the Great Kingdom of glorious light and peace, in the presence of the Lord Jesus Himself, and His Father, whom created the Universe.
God is sovereign. He is all powerful. Anything is possible with Him. He can take the worse circumstances, and turn it all around.
