We visited Mount Samat, a beautiful location within Bataan that was a strategic area of battle in WW2.  Unfortunately the Japanese won the battle of Bataan some where in 1942 before a group of US Army Rangers came into liberate the prisoner camp.  Filipino and American soldiers fought valiantly slow the Japanese from controlling Bataan peninsula, which was key for controlling Manila Bay.  The US Government demanded General MacArthur had to leave, instead of facing the imminent defeat.  He vowed "I shall return!".  And he did.  A lot of different historians have mixed reviews of MacArthur.  To most Filipinos he is an icon of heroism and bravery.  For others who are partial to Wainwright, MacArthur was arrogant and unthankful.  Whatever it was, I'm glad the USA was there to help the PI.

Today we are heading to Ternate, Cavite to celebrate a festival with friends and my dad side of the family...God bless you for praying for us!  I need to take care of some stuff with my dad's land by discussing it with my cousin's son Rommel, the councilman.  I need to pay off the taxes and get the deed paperwork.
