Sunday service went well. Pastor Tae preached on the value of being in fellowship and how when we are together as a family it makes life everyone's life better. Once again, we are encouraged by the new faces and the commitment level of these young men and women who have come to the church. We can see our friends Noiy, Noom, and Doh really step up and mentor these young men. All of them are very musically inclined and share new songs every week before worship.
A few Singaporean missionaries (including a pastor) came from Bangkok to see Tae and the progress he has made with the water purification process. I gave them some technical information regarding the process. These folks were inspired because they have an orphanage of over 100 children. The pastor would like to have a system for those kids because they are getting allergies due to waterborne disease. He can catch the vision of using this as a means for them to provide clean water for not only themselves but for the community near them. They hope that they too can have one, and use it to generate income for their orphanage. It was a proud moment for Tae who had the faith to undergo the project, and the Lord has provided faithfully.
Recently we had a chance to spend time with Suchia and her mother. This is the lady we led to the Lord last year. She invited us to her home and encouraged her regarding God's timing in matters that are troubling. Once we get a reliable friend who has time to translate at a good hour when Suchia is not working, Tammy and I intend to share our discipleship material with Suchia as well. I think that time with her and her mom meant a lot to her. Our prayer is to reach out to her entire family, who now know us. Specifically we would like to reach her son Bank who is struggling with certain addictions. Suchia's sister enjoys seeing Tammy and send her children to learn English at the Ao Udom English Center. Please pray for those children to pick up from where they were last year.
Tammy did a great job teaching a young lady named Wa today. We are going over the Multiplication Ministries' "Getting to Know God Personally". Wa speaks fluent english and just loves spending time with us. Please keep her in your prayers. I'm very proud of Tammy because she's progressing as not only a tremendous helper, but someone who could teach herself. Yesterday we invested some time baby sitting for Tae and Fang. We watched the Sword in the Stone to pass the time with the kids. We did our radio show on 87.5FM, and shared on the book called "the 5 love languages". We tied it into 1Corinthians 13. We were only able to touch on two things of the 5 "languages". We touched on "sharing gifts" and "serving one another". . We spoke on how God has given us the Ultimate Gift...His Son.
We spent some quality time with the church's young men (13-16 years old), playing basketball. Please pray for Brite and Pop who are to be good role models for the younger kids. Some of the younger kids have already had their share of troubles with drugs and jail, if you could believe it. Their parents are newer believers, but the kids haven't really taken up their parents faith. But God has all the power to fix this situation. We are taking an interest in a young boy named Ung. We take the extra time to snap him out of his dull, apathetic personality and he's finally smiling and laughing like a kid ought to. Please pray for him. Pastor Tae wants to help him by giving him an opportunity to learn a trade with the water store and Tae is ready to help him with an education. We'll see how that goes. We also are making relationships with many people as they come in for friendship and guidance with their English speaking. What's nice is that they often want to talk, more than they want a lecture. This opens doors for us to share about our lives, and Tammy and I are always ready to share about our lives with folks who will listen. This is relational/friendship evangelism. Please pray for those relationships to grow, and that they bear much fruit.
This week we intend on:
1. Meet with Elder Whoot and two other pastors on Multiplication Ministries' consultation on building churches. Please pray for these meetings, and that God would speak to their hearts through the material prepared by MM.
2. Disciple the young man named Came.
3. Disciple the young lady Wa.
4. Continue thai language studies, water, and english teaching studies.
5. Share christian video with the guys from the Que restaurant, to follow up our discussion on Rock musicians and the occult.
6. Prepare for a long trek to Cambodia to get our visas.
7. making more plans for the water store which will entail technical, marketing, and logistics. There are many things to consider, more than you can imagine. I've been having a hard time sleeping thinking about it.
Other things to pray for: Would you pray for financial support for us, as well as for the church too? We would like to fix up the home a bit to make it more appealing for our guests to continue to come and be comfortable and feel at ease and welcome. Often the folks sit on the ground, which might be cultural, but whether you are from the USA or from Thailand, the floor eventually hurts your butt. We want to get another sofa which will be about $80. We are also hoping for a more convenient transportation for us. I might be willing to drive a car if the Lord provides a temporary solution. I do not wish to drive a motorcycle/moped around here. I want to help the water store for all it is in terms of a community impact and a means for evangelism. Thank God for the help that has come in and the generosity of those who have invested in Ao Udom Church. Still, we could use a lot of help. If we are left to cover the vast majority of expenses, our trip will be cut short. We can't do it with out the Lord's provision. If you believe in what we are doing here has lasting eternal consequence, and if you are in a position to help the projects financially, please contact Multiplication Ministries. See our contact information on the blog. We would also deeply appreciate if you would share our cause with your friends and family who might be interested in these endeavors. Thank you so much and God bless you.
