Today I went with Pastor Tae and Fang to check out the possible water store location. Beautiful large place, just too much for right now. We'll keep looking...Please pray...
We spent time with the water expert, Youngjoot today talking about various things. I gave him Steve Pumara's contact info and vice versa, but we were having problems reaching Steve on the cell. I'm concerned because he may have limited cell service where he lives. But Steve did answer, and did try to call back, we just couldn't here him on the phone speaker. Please pray we can connect. I've noticed a lot of technical problems at inopportune times are creating problems for us. Yongjoot is inviting me and Tae to his water seminar in Pattaya on Nov 24th.
Mike and his friend Ninja came by. Lots of cool things happened. Immediately he started getting us back on track with the gospel. He was asking the questions. He was fascinated by Bible prophesy, especially about Jesus and the 200 predictions of him before he was born 2000 years ago as a man (He was one with God the Father [John 1, Colossians 1, etc]. He loved the thai software I had on the bible, so he asked if he could copy it. I gave him a Jesus video in thai, so he can copy that too. This is a special man, and God was doing some incredible things tonite. Several times we were going to look for scripture for him, we would land right on the page. It was amazing, and we let him know what was happening, and he was amazed.
This guy has a lot of influence here in Ao Udom. He is a senior upperclassman who speaks english very well, and he has many friends. As we went to the campus many people stopped to say hi, and many of the young men stopped, halted, and paid formal respect to him. He's laid back and lets the people show that respect, and then he opens up with them and chats, and he is very personable with him.
The church in Vista told me that in the thai culture what works is when you pursue influential people and share the Gospel with them, they tend to influence others a lot, and it's effective. But I never like to look at people as what I can get out of them...I don't look at people at how I can benefit from knowing them, although I may admire someone for whatever positive characteristics they may have. So I always felt creepy about the concept of purposely seeking someone, watching for that person. That's just me. But it seems the Lord has provided another person to share the Gospel with, and it so happens to be this man who is influential.
He says he'd love to have a thanksgiving party with us, and he'd invite his friends. Please pray for everything to come togehter regarding that. Especially if we could invite our friends from Bangkok to come...that would be a very special time at the end of november for us, prior to our trip to Philippines.
