Today we helped Tae and Fang in the church. Tae is having some email problems and had to create a new email account. We also ironed out a lot of confusion on the wiring information for their church. The information I had sent earlier did not have a specific branch/wiring code, to go with the account. So we took care of that.
Fang helped Tammy translate a lot of her testimony to Thai. This is very helpful to Tammy, because before we relied on really simple words to share the Gospel. It was effective, but not as good as being able to communicate it with proper grammar. Tammy was very proud and happy she could do that, and I was very proud of her because it was a break through that she could indeed learn something complex of the thai language. She was so fired up that she could overcome, she even went home to do the "turbo jam" work out video. I thought it was cute how an accomplishment and positive reinforcement can be so helpful.
Other than working on the fund raising for the church's Bowin project, and trying to get some documents faxed to my insurance agent for life insurance auto draft pay, I worked on learning more thai as well, through the Rosetta Stone software.
We're definitely progressing with the language slowly but surely.
Spent more time with Suchia and Nong and shared a little bit of the Bible with them.
Tomorrow we will be near the university, and Lord willing we will be discipling two young men, Came and his friend Chai who has chosen to follow Jesus last week. The great thing is with these two, they are very good englilsh speakers.
We need prayer specifically for the next steps in building up the handful of people we have led to Christ. The great commision in Matthew 28, is to Go and make disciples.....Preaching the Gospel is 1 thing we are very comfortable with, and leading many to salvation through their decision for Christ (John 3:3), but making disciples, and having the personal discipline to follow up and follow through is something we are developing. Pleaes lift up Suchia (and her family), Nong (and her family), Boiy, Cayme, Chai, and Sean (those are 4 university students) who have already decided to accept Jesus as their personal Lord....And then please lift up a young man named Mike (and all his buddies who like hanging out with us) in prayer. Mike is especially hungry and open to learn more and more of the Bible.
This sunday, the English instructor Steve, is inviting us to meet the pastor in Sira Cha, to see if we are interested in helping them as well.
Next week I'll be participating in a water purification seminar and learning from 2 experts in the field that have done many projects. I expect to be able to chime in with my expertise as well. Tammyh will have an opportunity to meet Steve Pomara's daughter, who has met the Royal Family before. They can hang out at the beach while we are at the seminar so close to the beach.
Please also pray that the Lord speaks to us in clear communication on how He wants to use use going forward. Philippines is on the horizon. Something that is heavy on my mind is the land we have out there, which has squatters on it. I know the Lord can deal with this, if we do our part. Please also lift up in prayer my desire to learn of different business opportunities that may supplement income throughout the years, based right here in asia. Something that we can build a system around that will not require my physical presence, but could be orchestrated from a remote location by phone or computer. Please also lift up career opportunities that may be available (if the Lord allows) if His calling for me is not full time. My dream has always been to be able to have a job with roots in America but allows significant time within Asia. Either way, I look to have sources of income in place by March 2011, and I'm intending to embark on the search for opportunities this month.
It is hard to articulate what I'd like prayer for. I want to be obedient to what God has called for us as a family to do. I know with certainty we had been called here for this time. I was somewhat irritated by our church counsel to limit the trip to a 6 months wait and see mission, as 6 months doesn't seem like it was worth quitting our jobs for. I was looking at 1 year or more, if the Lord provided. Nevertheless, we're being obedient to that counsel.
It may be a stupid test, but we will test the will of the Lord for our lives regarding what's next...the what, why, when, and where. A big part of that is to see where and how the Lord will provide income or financial provision for us.
Thanks for faithfully praying,
Alex & Tammy
