Sunday

Had a great time Sunday, but boy am I beat tired!
Woke up early to get started on translating some manuscripts into thai from our Discipleship manual.  We were able to teach a couple teenage students about 6 characteristics of God that are unique to Godhead (3 in 1).  Can you name a few?

It was cool how we were able to transition the conversation, because at first we were joking with our new found language skills.  We were trying to explain characteristics of our friend who just cut his hair.  then we did characteristics (physical) of how Jesus Christ is depicted in pictures and what it says about Him in the Bible.  Then later after we had fun with that, we went into the scriptures.  It's a real blessing to settle in and get comfortable with Bright and Ploy and have them comfortable.  We hope if we are faithful with this, more opportunities will happen.  There are already a few others that enjoy being with us that may join us if we ask them to, but some live far away and get here late.

The worship time was good.  Pastor Tae asked that Tammy and I sing a song and share what God has put in our hearts this week.  I played Tammy's favorite song called "What am I", it is about how incredible it is that God knows us and cares for us, but is so far above us in terms of Him building the skies, the stars, and the beautiful colors of this earth.  And He is the King, that would die so that we might live eternally with Him.  After the song I answered that question "what am I" with scriptures of who God says the believer is:  we are redeemed.  we are made righteous by His sacrifice and by our faith in that.  we are His children, dearly loved by Him.  And the scriptures says Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers, now that we can be called children of God because He adopted us because we didn't believe He is a liar regarding what He sent His Son to do for us!

The message was powerful. The speaker was Pastor Seng from down in Bangkok area.  He preached on something Tammy and I studied some weeks ago...on when Jesus came back from the dead and showed Himself to Peter, who went back to his normal job of fishing after Jesus was crucified.  Jesus did the same miracle he did the first time Peter followed Him....many fish came to the nets of Peter after he had initially failed, and Jesus told him to switch over the side of the boat.  They brought a bunch of fish back to the shore, but Jesus already had fish cooking for Peter.  John 21 is the chapter.  The pastor did a great job speaking of how God calls some to follow Him and serve Him by feeding the flock...to teach.  The story has obvious points that resonate with us.

Later we served a bunch of ice cream to the congregation, and the kids and young adults loved it.  Several people were sick though.  The bug is moving around.  Poor kids.

We pulled the TV out, and people watched the Jesus movie that I have in thai language, and then we watched Iron Man 2.  Pastor Tae loves seeing everyone hanging out at the shop having a great time.  He is very thankful for what God is doing in his church.

Tomorrow is our day off.  Please pray that God continues to give us people who will speak english and love to hear the Gospel, and want to make lasting relationships.  Please pray for the funds to continue to come in for the water store....we need another $2000 or so.  Please pray specifically for the company Myron L who is supposed to send us equipment, but I've had problems getting hold of the Regional Sales Guy who is related to the owner, who offered this generous gift before I left.

Here's a video of some worship music in thai.  I think we were a little out of sync this week because of some new songs.

God bless,

Alex
