WEDNESDAY

Today was a busy day.  Tammy was a bit under the weather after she caught my fever last night.  On my way to get some soup and fruit in the morning when I walked by the next door church.  I saw Soon's mom and the rest of the gang there.  They greeted me and then asked where is your wife?  I told them Tammy is "mai sabai", sick.  Soon's mom said OH!  She was surprised because she had a dream with tammy's face and tammy was coughing, the night before, at 4am.  Pastor Tae asked if she could come pray for Tammy.  This is the same lady that became christian after she asked God to heal her husband in the hospital, and it happened immediately.  (see other blog posts).  So she went up, and immediately Tammy felt better.  Her fever went away.  But Tammy wanted a bit more rest, and she had some soup.  Though her fever is gone, now she has headache and is a bit weak recovering still.  She's taking medicine, and eating lots of fruit.  I wish she would eat more of the soup i make her though.

After Tammy was all set up with lots of water and food, and our friends next door at the church were aware of her wanting to take some more rest, I went to keep my appointment with our friend who might be a translator for us.  We spent some hours talking and teaching him geological, historical, and biology, and social studies stuff as it pertains to the bible, as he is in the university as a geo-engineer.  He is very smart and had many questions.

After that appointment I returned to the house and we had dinner, prayed, and then did our english class- bible table topic thing.  OUr friends from the cofee shop closed the shop for 1 week as they are building a beauty salon next to the cofee shop, and are trying to find someone to work full time in the salon.  So we did this one at the ice cream shop.  5-6 said they wanted to come, but 2 could not (1 being the young man I spent much time with earlier in the day, that had to go back to the university to study, and 1 being sick and having to go to the hospital after school).  So 4 adults came, with 2 kids.  We did the Genesis 24 topic again on love stories, because these guys did not yet hear it.  It was actually funny because before the study, we like to play family feud.  The first question was "what do you associate the actor Fabio with?".  One answer was long hair.  The next person answered "Romance/Love Story".  That was the #1 answer!  Then my computer mysteriously locked up and I couldn't do anything with it.  We couldn't play after that.  So I guess that was a perfect segway into what would be a night of talking about "Love".  The question raised again is do you believe in life as being only the result of your choices, or can other things also influence like luck, "karma", or God.  The other life questions was what do you look for in a potential companion?  One girl said "good looking, tall".  Her boyfriend was there.  I said like your boyfriend, very handsome, very tall.  She said "no!"  not him.  but he's a gentleman!".  AFter that her boyfriend, who is a paramedic left.  I think he was a bit insulted.
Anyways, after it was all done, and they practiced speaking english and thinking about life, (1 girl often relying on the translator), I showed them a pic of the scene of Isaac and Rebecca's first meeting.  And it had the caption, Isaac showing kindness helping Rebecca down from the horse.  I said, oh, isaac was a gentleman!
anyways, it appears that 1 of these ladies really would like to do this often on saturday nights and meet many people to practice english.  She will invite 2 friends.  And we will call many more and commit to saturday night.

Would you join me in prayer for the word COMMITMENT.  The Thai are laid back and easy going.  I like that, that's my style.  But sometimes many things can hinder their ability to follow through on their commitment.  But we are here to work, and so we want to have some structure and be able to trust a schedule and build around it.  Please pray for kept promises, and a yes be yes and a no can not, be a no cannot.  Please pray for the word commitment, integrity, and steadfast.  For me and Tammy, please pray that we are blessed with fruitful ministry here, and other available translators.

By the way, here's a tid bit to think about:
John 5:20-25 (New International Version)

20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. 21For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

24"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. 25I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
